Board Appoints New Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds

At its October 15, 2019 meeting, the Westfield Board of Education approved the appointment of Sean McArthur as Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds for the Westfield Public School District, effective January 1, 2020. McArthur succeeds Michael Morris who will retire on December 31 after 25 years of service.

Molecular Biologist Provides Real Life Connections

Seventh graders at Roosevelt Intermediate School recently were visited by a molecular biologist who provided real life connections to a science unit on metabolic reactions in the human body in which the students explore a case study of a middle school girl and the specific symptoms she reports to her doctor.

Week of "Extra" Respect

As public school districts across New Jersey observed the Week of Respect from Oct. 7-11, students and staff in the Westfield Public Schools participated in many lessons and activities emphasizing the meaning of respect and the different ways people show it. “Respect is something we practice daily in Westfield Public Schools,” says Superintendent Dr. Margaret Dolan. “So we call this week the ‘Week of Extra Respect.’”
