Teachers at Edison and Roosevelt Intermediate Schools recently held Webex sessions offering virtual learning strategies for students and parents. The optional sessions offered tips for remote learning including how to keep track of assignments, getting started on work, asking for help, and what to do when feeling overwhelmed by online learning.
Edison 7th grade language arts teachers Jessica Ciampa, Marc Lazarow and Debbie Ann Vezos facilitated the session, using slides created by Westfield High School English teacher Kate Hickey and adapted to best fit the needs of middle school students.
At Roosevelt, the session was led by School Counselors Cristina Borgo, Kim Schumacher, and Christine Trottiere, along with Reading Interventionist Farrah Selvers and Media Specialist Megan Lynn.
"The feedback from students, teachers, and parents was extremely positive, as organizing working from home is difficult for all age groups," says Edison's Lazarow.
